I will soon be attending my birth neices big day celebrations!

I will no doubt be meeting some of the birth family of my true birth sister. Although I was adopted as a baby, my birth sister knew our shared birth mother for quite some years. We do not share the same birth father.

I am feeling quite nervous!

my own (adoptive) sister has recently passed over. Once again it was left to another sibling to inform me she was ill. I was informed, by him, she didn't wish to see me on her death bed as she knew i may say things she wouldn't wish me to.

more recently, i tried again to speak to my parents, who seemed to take great pleasure in informing me that she was waiting for me!   well, purrrhaps they should have done the parently bit and phoned me? I was in the UK at that time and they could easily have found my phone number, alas they are not the kind to deal directly with things. So, although this at first made me angry, i realised that they had not always been honest with me and it is my choice, this time, not to believe th...

Have you adopted a child?   (reply) Posted by: Adopted at birth

a knew a young man who was also adopted and was not only told he was adopted, but the adoptive parents kept every single shred of evidence they could as to who the birth parents were.

when this young man and his brother were old enough, they were informed they would receive all the support they wished in order to locate their original birth parents.

both adoptive brothers decided they had no desire to locate their birth parents

i have today heard sad news regarding giving an adopted child their rightful information

a young Bulgarian lady who has two sons of her own, has never even been told she is adopted!

why on earth adoptive parents make the wrong decision to never tell their adoptive child it is adopted is beyond me!

they are bound to find out, one day...

please, adoptive parents, tell you adopted child, dont wait till someone else does!

if you tell them early enough, they will love you all the more... i still love my adoptive parents although we alas no longer speak, since they were not willing to share the vital information they concealed for years of my original birth name...

I live in Bulgaria now and today i heard quite a sad and shocking little story.

A young lady, who has two sons of her own, was like me, adopted.

She has never been passed this information and to this date she is unaware that she is an adopted child.

I feel this is very sad and feel every child that has been adopted should be told as soon as they can understand things, plus given all the help they need if or when they ask for help in locating their original birth family.

This makes for a very loving caring and kind attitude on the part of the adoptive parents.

As for what happens when the birth family may be located and contacted, well that's another story

I will always have the memories of when my parents made my older sister tell me that i was different to normal children, that normal children had just come to be with their parents, with no choice involved, that i was special as i was a chosen child (my 'older' sister was three years older than myself, i would have been less than 6 years old when i was informed i was adopted, which means she would have been less than 9 years old)

each time i tried to talk to my parents about who i was pre adoption, only resulted in me being told they had no further information but that my birth mother was only 15 years old and had run away with a boy from borstal and her family made her give me up.

they informed me, quite believably to...

although my new life in Bulgaria has increased my general happiness, it still niggles me as to where i was fostered for the first fourteen months of my life. recently i met a woman who fostered children, (for a living).

a lot of my energies have been put to finding these two caring people who fostered me, the couple of fosterer parents i recently met, put me off a tad, and made me realise that i maybe living in cloud cookoo land in attempting to search these people down. the couple i met were heavy drinkers, spending their earnings, from fostering, on holidays while attempting to buy a real cheap house in Bulgaria.

although perhaps they are quite caring foster parents, i would not like to find out that the foster paren...

i am truly sorry for the recent crash of this forum i am attempting to rebuild it and i hope it will be all back online asap!

here are a couple copies of photos i received from Matron Levy a long time ago of Norwood Childrens Home, I have recently talked to a Private Detective who has come up with some very good ideas regarding my fruitless search for the foster family who fostered me for the first 14 months of my life

in the meantime, i am temporarily residing in Bulgaria working on a new project far from adoption!

enjoy all these sites and feel free to post your adoption...

Although I have been told I was in the Norwood Childrens home for around 2 weeks, records of this event are non existent!
I do remember Norwood as when I was 5 years old, we went there before they tore down the old original building to collect a brother!

Because I had allegedly been in the kind care of a family for the first 14 months then taken away obviously at very short notice, apparently I was fretting in the home and my new mother was given a call by Matron Levy to come and collect this fretting 14 month old and foster her until she is adopted!

What a shock I must have been suffering! Although I do not believe for one moment that I have suffered this early experience, it makes me sad that I cannot find the f...

Have you adopted a child?

How much support have you been given and have you supported your adopted child if they have decided to find their birth family?

I was adopted at birth and spent many years and finally located my birth family!

Although I have since lost one sister (my adopted sister) I have gained a sister (a birth sister)

I will be updating my adoption story and search for my birth rights pretty soon, I was originally given up for adoption at the tender age of 2 weeks old, the family I was placed with were unfortunately not of the same religion and although they apparently attempted to adopt me, I was taken away by the authorities at the age of 14 months to be placed in a more 'suitable' family environment!

I still search for the wonderful family that fostered me for my first important 14 months of life, alas I have nothing to go on in this search an...
